According to a tweet made Tuesday afternoon by local producer, and electric ivory tickler for the Southside Johnny led Asbury Jukes, Jeff Kazee, he and the aforementioned front-man have finished recording a cover of The Beatles‘ “I’m Down” for a lengthy project, nearing the entrance to its third year, named The Beatles Complete On Ukulele (TBCOU).
“At http://www.thebeatlescompleteonukelele,” begins the organization’s mission statement, “we will release a new recording of a Beatles song, featuring a different artist, every Tuesday. A short essay will coincide with every recording and each performance will include a ukulele.”
The project began on January 20, 2009 and will conclude on July 31, 2012, or the eve of the Summer Olympic Games in London.
Past contributors to this ongoing venture include the Alan Cohen Experience, Wang Chung (Yes that Wang Chung), local product Like Trains & Taxis, and even President Barack Obama:
