Weekly Music News Roundup (August 23-29)

Heavy Young Heathens EP

Heavy Young Heathens is proving to be one of my new favorite bands.  This pair of Psychedelic Indie-Rock brothers, Aron and Robert Mardo, from L.A. is just another means of entertainment to emerge from the “destruction” and “fallout” of our society caused by the hit MTV show Jersey Shore.  In Season One a soundtrack that included the Heathens’ “Who Do You Think You Are” and “Bass Makes Treble” accompanied the on screen debauchery and hilarity.  This past Thursday the band’s “Daylight Brakes” and “Shine” assisted the dramatic breakup of Ronnie and Sammy.

Fuji in Japan as part of the Love Hope Strength Foundation’s “Mt. Fuji Rocks.”  Listen to this man’s simple, surf rock inspired, single below.

The Devil Wears Prada "Zomie EP" released August 24th

Guess who decided to beat an undead horse?  The Devil Wears Prada has released its walking dead themed Zombie EP jumping on a bandwagon that lost its wheel way back in 2005 when the late Dennis Hopper co-starred with John Leguizamo in Land of the Dead, a George A. Romero effort that really sucked something awful and tarnished the revolutionary filmmaker’s god name.  Hey, you know what, it’s loud, it’s hard, it’s not entirely terrible, and it doesn’t involve vampires.  If you deem it worth a listen feel free to

TDWP comes to Frenchtown, NJ next week on September 4th to play a venue called Revelation Generation.

The Posies new album Blood/Candy

The Posies have announced its upcoming U.S. Fall Tour in support of the Power-Pop band’s upcoming album Blood/Candy, due out September 28th.  The Posies have released “License To Hide” off this upcoming record, a sugary sweet, piano rocking, four-minute, harmonization party…”And I love it!!!” said Randolph Grant, broadcaster/professional critic of Nearburg (yes this is a CatDog reference, deal with it).
