Congratulations to Status Green.  The Asbury Park natives’ track “Denver After Dawn” will remain on the playlist until dethroned.

Dave Roberts

Who is Dave Roberts?  A Long Branch, NJ beat farmer reaping crops upon plentiful crops of rhymes about life in the Dirty Jerz, strenuous familial relationships, getting lit with the boys, and what the hard climb to the top of Garden State rap game is like.  Today is Mr. Robert’s birthday and he dropped this new track in celebration.

Status Green

At The Asbury Music Awards Status Green won awards for the Top Local Release with its album Cheap Sunglasses, Top Pop Band, and Top Live performance.  This group of Asbury Park Pop-Rockers is the real deal.

Toh Kay

One of the greatest song writers/band leaders to emerge from the Garden State is Streetlight Manifesto front-man Tomas Kalnoky.  This year his band has released an album’s worth of covers, 99 Songs Of Revolution Vol. 1, and apparently, in his spare time between non-stop touring and writing for a new Streetlight album, under the moniker of Toh Kay, Kalnoky managed to cut a split record with friend, and former front-man of MU330, Dan Potthast named You By Me.  The idea is simple, Kalnoky covers five songs written by Potthast an vice versa.  It’s definitely worth checking out.

“Downtown” by Toh Kay

Kanye West

Kanye West’s latest week-old album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, has received rave reviews, including Pitchfork’s rating of 10.0, the first album to receive a 10.0 from the organization since Wilco’s 2002 record Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and a lot of this success has to do with the track “Monster,” which features Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver, and Rick Ross.

Miniature Tigers

I found Miniature Tigers’ 2008 record Tell It To The Volcano a few months ago and it blew me away…then I heard the bands 2010 release Fortress and it was better.  Mini Tigs’ sophomore effort is one of my favorites of the year.

Bear Hands

Bear Hands is a group of Passion Pit disciples.  This is one of their songs…and I like it.
