New Music Review: R.E.M. Drops First Single Off New Album

Michael Stipe and company have released their first single, “Discoverer,” off R.E.M’s upcoming studio effort Collapse Into Now and it may be unlike anything the band has ever written.  The sound on this track is huge and the way it builds up before exploding into the first chorus has developed these visions of Stipe standing atop a monitor and leading a packed stadium in a sing along.  You can add “Discoverer” to the library of great tunes created by R.E.M.
