Gaslight Anthem’s Fallon Announces New Side-Project
The Gaslight Anthem’s front-man Brian Fallon has announced a new side-project named The Horrible Crowes. The band is only know to include Gaslight’s guitar tech Ian Perkins at this time, but Fallon has promised that it’s not going to be a two-man Folk outfit.
“I always said I never would do a solo record so that’s why I found a partner in crime in Ian,” Fallon wrote on his personal blog. “It’s not going to be the acoustic Brian Fallon road show. There’s organs, pianos, even – gasp – strings! There’s drums, everything. So don’t expect a folk record. We’ll put some music up closer to when we figure out when we’re recording.”
Fallon explained that the songs are inspired by the likes of Tom Waits, the National, the Afghan Whigs, Bon Iver and Nick Cave.
“Gaslight isn’t planning on recording until the fall, for a 2012 release,” Fallon continued. “I can’t sit still, so I’m doing this for fun, nothing more. This is my ‘for me’ record, Gaslight is my baby, no mistake.”
The Horrible Crowes will play a few select shows in the States, Canada, and the U.K. this year. Dates are not yet released.
Dropkick Murphys Going Out In Style To Feature The Boss
Dropkick Murphys have announced in a press release that Bruce Springsteen will be featured on the band’s seventh studio release Going Out In Style on the track “Peg O’ My Heart.”
“It [the collaboration] links two generations,” said Ken Casey, the founding member of Dropkick Murphys. “We’re spanning a lot of years of music here, yet our songs share similar themes, stories, and values.”
Defunct Hip-Hop Group Black Star Will Reunite For Bonnaroo 2011
Today, Talib Kweli announced via his Twitter account, RealTalibKwelli, that he and Mos Def would reunite to play Bonnaroo’s 10th anniversary as Black Star.
Kweli’s response to the inquiry is in the parenthesis…”Yes. Black Star!”

Matt & Kim (Semi-Confirmed Roo Act) Release “Cameras” Video
Matt & Kim have released the music video for the band’s single “Cameras” off its 2010 album Sidewalks (#11 on SIMGE’s Top 35 Albums of 2010). The pair of Indie Piano-Punks punch the hell out of one another with fists, guitars, and miniature lady liberty statuettes before finding another band to beat on, and making up with each other in the process. It’s nuts.
Check it out on the band’s Web site by clicking null.
She & Him Release Video For “Don’t Look Back,” Zoey D Still A Beuty
I’ve not kept it a secret. Zoey Deschanel is my girl, she just doesn’t know it yet, and She & Him’s latest vide for “Don’t Look Back” only cements my love for the actress/word-smith and her band’s music.
Dropkick Murphys Prepping New Album, Release New Track
To celebrate the announcement of the album, The Murphys sold out to Satan for exposure by granting none other than Rolling Stone the exclusive rights to a stream of the band’s new single “Memorial Day.” And as much as it pains me to do it, here is a link to the song. The disdain I have developed for this magazine throughout my long standing subscription is outweighed by my responsibility I have to you guys.

- “Going Out in Style”
- “The Hardest Mile”

Coachella Sets The Bar High With It’s 3 Day Lineup
With the announcement of Coachella’s three day lineup the bar has officially been set for all others on the Summer music festival circuit, and it’s been notched high with premiere headliners such as Kings Of Leon, hipster gods Animal Collective, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, and Kanye West. And that’s not to mention an undercard consisting of The National, The Black Keys, Cee Lo Greene, Cold War Kids, Jimmy Eat World, Best Coast, to name a few.
Plus a plethora of my favorites like The Aquabats, Flogging Molly, Titus Andronicus, a reunited Death From Above 1979, Crystal Castles, Gogol Bordello, and Cage The Elephant.
Well done Coachella, but my heart resides in Manchester, Tennessee. Hopefully Bonnaroo answers with a vengeance.
