New Music Review: Best Coast’s “Sunny Adventure” Is Fuzzy Beyond It’s Years

I’m not sure what the fascination is with creating tracks that sound as if they’re being spun on a dusty piece of vinyl, unearthed in a shabby cardboard box that’s been buried for decades in the back of a closet under some priceless linens, but this fuzzy three-piece from La La Land has mastered the process, and has constructed one of its more enticing numbers on this latest track “Sunny Adventure.”

“Sunny Adventure” is a track that can only be thought up by someone living the sweet life.  It’s fun in the sun with a blunt between your forefinger and thumb transformed into a hazy, Pop-Rock number that would have topped the charts in 1965 with it’s happy-go-lucky lyrics and sing along chorus.

I must admit, this is an impressive song from a band that had not yet won me over, but it appears I’ve been encapsulated.

My gift to all the readers out there that have made January the most successful in this blog’s history, I give to you “When You Wake Up,” track #4 on the split EP between Best Coast and Wavves that was released on January 11.
