Sleigh Bells Releases Video For “Rill Rill”
Bleeding telephones, a knife wielding Alexis Krauss ditching the body of her mostly dead axe-man Derek E. Miller on the side of a dusty highway out of speeding vehicle…maybe the owners of SIMGE’s 8th best album of 2010 should change its name to Slay Bells?

ATP 2011 will be hosted, not in a rundown New York State country club, but in our own storied backyard of Asbury Park. The same boardwalk planks that the likes of Bruce, Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny, John Eddie, Gary U.S. Bonds, The Bouncing Souls, The Gaslight Anthem, and many more will now be performed upon by the headliners and curators Portishead, a European Trip-Hop group that hasn’t performed on the East Coast in more than 13 years, as well as Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel who will grace our humble shore-side dwellings with his first live performance in about a decade.
The three day event will see shows in both the Paramount Theatre and Asbury Park Convention Hall.
How this festival will affect the culture, industry, and music of Asbury Park is yet to be known, but I aim to find out. Expect a story on this subject to be filed in the following days.

R.E.M. Leaks 5th Track Off New Record
Today Michael Stipe and company leaked the fifth track off its upcoming studio release Collapse Into Now entitled “Uberlin.” R.E.M. hooked me when it released “Discoverer,” the band even kept me on board with “Oh, The Guilt” by collaborating with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, but every song has been substantially worse than the one prior to it. Now we’re five deep and I don’t want to hear the album anymore after “Uberlin.” Hopefully the band is releasing all the crap now and hoarding the good stuff…but that’s not great marketing.
