The Great Explainer, Gimme Drugs, Aspiga, Kid Nichols, Neur @ Asbury Lanes
The Lanes sends off Shore Alternative’s The Punkyard with a loaded local lineup including the Asbury Stoner-Rock outfit Gimme Drugs, that has a pair of LPs coming out next month, and the Chunksaah Records signee The Great Explainer, a thrash and burn four-piece from Hamilton, NJ that was tapped by the Bouncing Souls this past february to open the band’s four-night Snowed In event Stone Pony.

SEASIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Matt Wade, Underwater Country Club, Matt O’Ree Band, Tor Miller Band @ The Aztec Ocean Resort
Asbury ivory tickler and song writer Matt Wade sits amidst a four act lineup, including the piano laden tunes of Freehold Township’s Underwater Country Club, the Bluesified Southern-Rock of the Matt O’Ree Band, and the Tor Miller Band.
Wade has been prepping his debut album for a few months now and, interestingly, has announced a collaboration with this Facebook post from April 27th:
“Another song finished, and it sounds great! Matt O’Ree played his ass off as usual, and added a lot to the tune. Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”
IT’s not out of the realm of possibilities that this track is debuted on opening night of the Seaside Music Festvial.

Fellow swashbucklers Colie Brice and the noble Captain James Peacock perform solo sets with Asbury favorites The Sunday Blues, and the boot stomping Folk-Rock of The Amboys. The four area favorites will be joined by the wave of Funk rolling down the shore from Brooklyn that is Neon Dynamite and the world renown Earthman.

Green Paper @ The Pie Hole
Psychedelic-Pop rockers, Green Paper, have called Ewing, NJ’s The Pie Hole home for the past couple of years and on Friday evening the band will close down its practice space, complete with “spider bathroom” and taco chairs, with one final show.
James Wells (The Gay Blades), The Obvious @ The Brighton Bar
The Gay Blades front-man James Wells last took his solo act to The Boardwalk nearly one month ago while performing alongside other local favorites during the resurrection of A Night In Progress at The Saint. On Sunday, the soulful vocalist and guitar maestro returns to the shore to front a lineup featuring one of the top Punk acts around, The Obvious.
Wells specifically requested that The Obvious be on the bill and when asked about this selection he replied, simply, “I just think they are good.”
The Obvious just finished up recording its sophomore EP, and follow up to the band’s 2010 release Bringing Wreck, the tentatively titled, One Way Ticket To Newark with Pete Steinkopf of the Bouncing Souls. Come check out some of the Punk outfit’s new tunes and old favorites, as well as Well’s sure to be awe inspiring performance.
