Brooklyn-based Munchie-Rap troupe Das Racist has dropped the first single, “Michael Jackson,” off Relax, its highly anticipated (amongst hipster music enthusiasts and wannabe hipster journalists such as myself at least), debut studio release, a track that’s subject-matter is entirely unassociated with its title…save for starting the made for stadiums, sing-along, chorus that’s sure to have underground New York City watering holes and dance club/ecstasy dens bumping for months.
And for those fans of DR that are hell bent on being alienated on September 13th, the records official release date, don’t fret, for real production has not hindered or smothered the comedic genius, lackadaisical stream of consciousness-type flow, nor the mental pop-culture rolodex from which the trio formulates its hot fire.
The track is produced by fellow Brooklynite, and member of Chairlift‘s rhythm section, Patrick Wimberly. Das Racist placed the song up on Itunes for sale this morning, the first number the group ever put a number on, and SIMGE bought it so you don’t have to. You’re welcome folks…enjoy it below:
