The good independent folks of the independently owned and operated All Tomorrow’s Parties who have made it their lives to promote and celebrate independent music have just enriched ours even more.
Not only have they moved the festival site from upstate New York to our own backyard, the Asbury Park Convention Hall, in turn gracing us with the likes of Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel), Portisehead, Shellac (Steve Albini), Battles, Deerhoof, and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy (to name a very short list), but as an added bonus have included a pair of Hip Hop collectives that are bound to get the bustling groups of boardwalk bound bodies bumping and grinding on the planks when this circus rolls through town September 30th through October 2nd: The legends I speak of are none other than Public Enemy and Company Flow.
Public Enemy will be performing it’s classic 1990 record Fear Of A Black Planet in its entirety while the El-P led Company Flow will be doing whatever the hell Company Flow wants…they have that power.
NOTE: For those not familiar with Company Flow…may I bestow this gift upon you.
Tickets are still available, somehow, this journalists recommendation is that you go and purchase them before they’re snatched up. Pick up tickets here.
NOTE: All you Jeff Mangum fans out there, prepare yourselves, for this is what will soon be upon us:
