Venue: Asbury Lanes
Doors: 8 p.m. (music starts at 9 p.m.)
Tonight, the Boardwalk’s premiere 10-pin Penthouse and Punk-Rock locale, Asbury Lanes, will host one of Asbury’s best, The Obvious, which headlines a showcase of brutality and early ’90s nostalgia with a modernized injection of blood, soul, and intelligently calculated savagery.
The Obvious have been cooking up new tunes since finishing up recording on its forthcoming sophomore release, recorded in the Asbury Park studio of the legendary Bouncing Souls axe wielder Pete “The Pete” Steinkopf, which I hope to have more details for all of you after tonight.
Also, a little added incentive for all you Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans out there, The Obvious tend to close out there sets with the most explosive version of “Date With The Night” you’ve heard since Karen O and company first played that track in some dark, dingy, underground rock club in the heart of Manhattan. Like me, I’m sure you weren’t in attendance for that. Thus, come witness this performance and bask in the fiery embers that spew from The Obvious’ amps.
