What’s Happening On Saturday?

Venue: The Brighton Bar

Doors: 8 p.m.

Cover:$10-12

This mini-tour of the U.S. and Canada stops at Long Branch’s house of Punk-Rock worship, The Brighton Bar, featuring a band fronted by legendary vocalist and axe wielder of The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell, with beats pounded out by the Bayonne-born Blondie stick-wielder, Clem Burke.

If that’s not enough incentive for you to come out, the undercard includes two of the best local Punk outfits around, Freehold Township’s own The F-Bombers, a group selected to perform at the 2010 Asbury Music awards, and Jon Caspi & The First Gun, which will be releasing its debut record (an album produced by The Boucning Souls’ Pete Steinkopf) on November 19th at, where else, The Brighton Bar.

And if that’s still not enough incentive, the first 25 folks in the bar will receive a free show poster, pictured above.

NOTE: The last time Hugh Cornwell and Clem Burke played The Brighton, the legendary songstress and Blondie front-woman, Debbie Harry, was in the building to grab a beer and watch the show…however, tonight, according to the most reliable of sources, there is a more than decent chance that Harry may be joining the band on stage for a few nostalgic numbers…don’t miss it.

Sikamor Rooney, A Revue, At Jamian’s (Red Bank)

Photo by Chris Rotolo (Sikamor Rooney @ The Watermark)

Venue: Jamian’s

Doors: All day (Music 10 p.m. to 1  a.m.)

Cover: Quite possibly no cover

The last time Sikamor Rooney played this type of review show was at The Watermark on the Asbury Park boardwalk on August 24th.  The band had the performance recorded for a future release and the show drew a huge crowd.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Jamian’s crew will maneuver this six-man band, which includes two drum sets, into the right side corner near the entrance where the musical magic takes place in this bar/restaurant/music locale.  Bottom line, this place is not huge, so be sure to get there early, get your freak on, and more importantly, secure a clear vantage point.

Venue: The Wonder Bar

Doors: 7 p.m. (21 and older show)
