Vlad Holiday Of Electric Sun Covers U2, Playing Maxwell’s On Black Friday

The Brooklyn-based, and Vlad Holiday-fronted, Electric Sun is the axe-wielder’s answer to a hiatus recently embarked upon by his former outfit, Jet Lag Gemini, and previous reports, based upon the outfit’s first single “Don’t Look Back,” which stated that the group’s tunes would resemble those of the recently disbanded were in fact false.

Electric Sun’s debut EP, The Gilded Cage, which dropped on Tuesday (November 15th), put those claims in an early resting place somewhere in the frigid depths of a spacious spectrum between the Operatic-Rock of a Chicago-based collective named Absentstar and a more subdued Sleigh Bells, riddled with    Holiday’s ember encrusted fret work, save for the fifth and final track, “Mark On Me,” which brings this diverse collection to a mellow landing on a piece of Americana-glazed earth.

Grab “Don’t Look Back” above, check out Holliday’s rendition of the U2 penned tune “Moment Of Surrender” below, and be sure to catch Electric Sun live at Maxwell’s in Hoboken on Black Friday (November 25th) with Ionia and Janet Labelle.  Doors are at 8:30 p.m. with a cover of $8.
