The Watermark Hosts Jonah Matranga (Far), The Amboys, Thomas Wesley Stern, And More Tonight

Far was a Sacramento, CA-based Metal band formulated and fronted by a man who will grace The Boardwalk this evening, Jonah Matranga.  The outfit achieved a cult following on the heals of its 1998 full-length release, Water & Solutions, which received critical acclaim, despite not being distributed in bulk…of course prompting the outfit to split.

In 2009, amidst the nations craving of all things nostalgic, Far reformed for a handful of successful tour dates…once again, convincing the group to break up, this time for good.  Now Matranga is solely a solo artist and is set to hit The Watermark tonight.

Joining him will be a handful of local talent including we are., Top Rock Band and Top Male Acoustic Act as voted by a cast of their peers at the 2011 Asbury Music Awards, The Amboys and Thomas Wesley Stern, and the enigmatic Boardwalk-based Phantom Power, which will perform its debut set…

Phantom Power features Bob Paulos of Give Me Static, the local multimedia artist and member of The Asbury Improvisational Noise Test, Joe Nicita, a Red Bank realtor and music enthusiast, Domenick Marmorato, and James Sefchek, the former stick wielder of Indiana’s own Post-Punk collective Brazil…a diverse bunch indeed, should be interesting.

Doors are at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m.  A $10 cover charge is to be paid upon entrance and a great time to be had by all…check it out.
