Shayfer James Drops Cover For Valentine’s Day

By Chris Rotolo, The Creator

Near to New Years Eve the Pied Pianist of the New Jersey Underground, Shayfer James, led his body of faithful sinners astray with his rendition of the classic Frank Loesser tune “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve,” and today, on February 14th, the sinister ivory tickler has returned with yet another holiday-themed cover titled “My Funny Valentine,” a number originally performed by Rodgers & Hart.

James plays it pretty close to the vest on this 1937 Babes In Arms show tune, save for his patented melancholous tone, a beautiful contrast to this initially slow-trudging yet joyous tune, which transforms this number into an anthem for the loveless in the wake of this affection celebration.
