Town Hall Covers Ashanti’s “Always On Time” For Valentine’s Day

By Chris Rotolo, The Creator

The Big Apple’s own Indie-Folk outfit, Town Hall, got into the holiday spirit today with the release of a new music video for its cover of Ashanti’s not quite classic, yet all too enjoyable, collaboration with Ja Rule “Always On Time.”

Phoebe Ryan is far removed from the shirtless, tat-sporting, rhyme spitter that is Ja Rule, but it didn’t stop the Town Hall songstress from developing her own flow while distributing the Ja-penned verses over Jesse Kranzler and Stefan Weiner’s acoustic six string-led beats, the latter assuming the role of the aforementioned Ashanti.  Check it out below:

This is an interesting gender bending rendition of a song I used to jam out too on the Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 10 compilation…you can probably grab that at your local record store for a dime.  And while you’re at it, get Town Hall’s debut EP for free here.
