“Chuck. Chuck. It’s Marvin! Your cousin, Marvin BERRY. You know that new sound you’re looking for? Well, listen to this.”
And with that raucous scene from the iconic film that has become Back To The Future, with visions of Michael J. Fox rattling about the stage in his parents’ high school gymnasium while pulling power slides and assaulting an amp with his penny loafer, we are presented with Brooklyn, NY’s own, and a too infrequent frequenter of New Jersey’s various music haunts, Marvin Berry & The New Sound, an outfit who dabbles in various forms of Rock N’ Roll, all as overtly danceable and alluring as the aforementioned Marty McFly rendition of “Johnny B. Goode.”
Earlier this month the outfit dropped a seven-song collection of new practice demos, a glimpse of what’s to come after its split release with the Brooklyn-based Nude Beach (2011) and a self-titled four-track EP (2010).
