Today, the Asbury Park based Chunksaah Records, brainchild of the Bouncing Souls, announced that it would be releasing Natural Disaster, the debut solo record of the legendary Jersey Punk outfit’s front-man Greg Attonito, on July 12th.

Natural Disaster is Gregory Attonito’s first solo release after 22 years of recording and touring with his band The Bouncing Souls,” reads the Chunksaah description.  “His first solo effort is an exercise in simplicity.  These songs capture an intangible combination of spirits old and new-they’re wistful, intimate, plaintive.  A waking dream of the most genuine kind, because Greg is a dreamer of the highest order.”

Track Listing:

  1. How Many Songs
  2. Volcano
  3. Cincinnati Dream
  4. Sexiest Girl
  5. Eyes
  6. Teardrops
According to Chunksaah Records, and as the photo above indicates, the record will be pressed on three different colors of vinyl…blue (500 copies, available via Chunksaah mail order), red (500 copies, available via retailers), and yellow (250 copies, available via tour stops).  However, you can order all three, together, as a set from Chunksaah by clicking here.  But do it fast, as only 15 sets will be made available.

For now, head over to Chunksaah Records’ Reverb Nation page to hear the albums closing salvo “Teardrops” by clicking here.

If this early release is any indication of what Attonito is offering on this solo collection, the music will be far from his basement Punk roots and can instead be filed under the Americana-esque Folk-Rock stylings of fellow Jersey acts River City Extension and Laura Stevenson & The Cans…which is in no way something to sweat, for “Teardrops” is a beautiful song.
